Windshield Repair – A ‘Green Option’ and Less Expensive

Windshield repair can be a great option for customer looking to restore the integrity of their windshield quickly and inexpensively. Repairs are quick, convenient, and are covered by our lifetime warranty. Repair services are available in one of our shop facilities or mobile at your location. Payment can be made directly by cash/credit or through your insurance policy.

Repairs are Easy & Low Risk

Repairs often take no more than 30 – 45 minutes to complete – however appointments are strongly encouraged to guarantee service. Many insurance carriers will provide windshield repair service with no deductible charge – FREE to Policyholder $$$$ – to encourage a timely repair of small breaks so that the crack does not get larger and your windshield will not need to be replaced (As always, check with Alderfer Glass or your insurance agent for coverage & policy details).

How is it Done?

In a windshield repair, our highly trained technicians will drill through the outer layer of glass in your windshield and inject a ‘glass-like’ resin. That resin is then cured under UV light. This process is designed to strengthen the crack and keep it from spreading further across your windshield. Please note that repairs will still be visible after a successful repair – the cleaner the break and smaller the mark allow for decreased visibility after a repair but you will still view a ‘scar’. Glass cannot be completely ‘healed’ but good repairs allow for useful service of your windshield even after a break.

What Can Be Repaired?

Please note that a break is NOT REPAIRABLE if it is larger then the size of a half dollar coin (approx. 1″ radius) or within the drivers direct vision i.e. an imaginary 8 ½ X 11 sheet of paper in front of the driver. This is for customer benefit – repairs larger than that size have a very low success rate and high warranty call-back rate – national chains will often repair large breaks as a sales lead for future windshield glass replacement. Alderfer Glass would rather have a satisifed customer.

Small chips and breaks like these are repairable.

Please be aware that lifetime warranty (explained click here) does not apply to successful state inspection of vehicle or perceived clarity by customer. Also note that there is a risk of further glass breakage during the repair process. If you are unsure of either, it is always best to check with Alderfer Glass or your inspection station prior to appointment to confirm that a windshield repair will pass state inspection requirements.
